Gyan hit with thigh injury

It was only on Thursday that Asamoah Gyan spoke of scoring to honour his late mother. Twenty-four hours on, a thigh injury may prevent him from even kicking a ball on Sunday.

The Ghana forward has picked up a thigh problem and reports from the team say he will remain a doubt for the Fifa World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
The team was playing against second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo - the national team scored five unanswered goals - when the Al Ain striker got the problem.

As a result the captain missed Friday's training session and has undergone a scan to determine if he will be available for the crucial qualifier.Ghana's options in case Gyan does not make it include two newly called players - Mahatma Otoo (Hearts of Oak) and David Accam (Helsingborg) - and Abdul Majeed Waris, who got his first cap only late last year.
